Since many of you have requested more information on how to both hold your flute and the correct fingering, we have compiled a visual walkthrough to guide you. This chart shows the most basic finger chart that will work with ANY 6 hole native american flute. It can also be adapted to a 5 hole flute where the 3rd hole position does not exist. Instead, the 3rd finger of the left hand, which is normally used to cover that hole, would be used in the space between the holes to ensure a proper hold on the flute. This is shown in the "Flute Position" picture at the bottom of this page.
